You know her as @TheSandyLion but I know her as Esskay which is a nickname that is as unique and edgy as her style and personality. We were first introduced through a mutual friend one day when I randomly bumped into them inside of a Bank of America in Soho, NY, where ironically we were all seeking refuge from the spontaneous rain. You may know her for her fashion savvy videos on Instagram where she demonstrates how to take one piece and rock it in three completely different ways; which is no small feat when you only have less than 60 seconds. "Grow bigger boobs!"

What advice would you give to someone who does not feel confident or capable wearing what they wish they could?

If you are lacking confidence and feel as though you cannot wear something, you need to make a list of reasons why you won't wear it, this will give you some problems that you can work to solve. Many of these can be solved by simply trying on the look in different ways, asking for reliable opinions or working to become the person you feel can pull those looks off. Research different ways to style the items and pay attention to how the clothing makes you feel, because if you feel good, it doesn't matter if it looks good or not. Instead of giving yourself reasons you can't do things, work to find different ways in which you CAN do them.

What is your favorite hip hop quote?

I cannot and refuse to pick ONE, because so far I have about 4 tattooed on my body, BUT one of my favorite is: "You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't predict the weather." Outkast.

If you were a super-hero what would be your name and your power?

I think my superhero name would be "Sandra D," for no particular reason, and I would love to be able to fly as fast as possible.

What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

A lot of people do not know that in addition to being a stylist, blogger and modeI, I am also a full-time Elementary School Teacher. I have taught grades 2, 3, 6 and 8 and currently, I work in the Peel Board of Education in Brampton, Ontario. I think it is important to know this about me because it allows people to fully understand who I am and what I am all about. My teaching career definitely plays a part in the success of my blog and the overall use of my time in life because I love to teach and I also adore children. It is incredibly fulfilling to be able to educate someone whether it being formal or informal; sharing knowledge with love and kindness is my main purpose in life.

What does confidence mean to you?

Confidence to me is looking in the mirror and feeling my best. Genuinely feeling as though I look, sound, and feel good is when I am the most confident. Because if I feel my best when I am alone, walking with confidence is nothing. We are our greatest critics, so we should aim to feel our best around ourselves, in order to exude confidence that will be visible when we are amongst others.
